The year 2008 was a very exciting and successful one for New Opportunities Learning Centre.  We opened a second centre, launched a Children's ESL camp in Stratford, Ontario and announced plans to offer online ESL courses internationally. 

For 2009, we are pleased to announce the addition of new programs in our Academic Upgrading division for our LMR clients.   New Opportunities Learning Centre is now offering industry recognized CERTIFICATION in the following programs:

LABOUR MARKET RE-ENTRY DIVISION

Certified Customer Service Training Program:

Students who enroll in this program will be trained in partnership with the International Customer Service Association.  As part of their training they will receive a one year free membership to the association.  Membership will provide each client with the opportunity to check job postings and for professional development.

In association with the Canadian Retail Institute, students will receive industry recognized certification.  Important benefits of this program are:  increased employability, recognized certification on a national level and opportunity for career advancement.

For students who have completed their ESL training, but have not yet mastered the lexicon of their new vocation,  New Opportunities offers an ESL component for all NOC related programs.  The purpose of this added component is to prepare students for the specific job related language that they will require to successfully gain employment in their new field.

OTHER NEWS

We are pleased to announce the launch of a Tutoring Centre at both locations.  Our centre will operate from 3:30 to 9:00 p.m.,  Monday to Friday and will offer academic assistance for elementary to pre-college/university students.  Credit courses will also be offered through the Independent Learning Centres.  Our programs will specialize in:

Homework help and Academic Upgrading, all subjects taught to the Ontario Curriculum including:

Math

ESL

Essay Writing

Homework help and Academic Upgrading for children with learning disabilities (Our centre is a member of the Learning Disabilities Association of Ontario).

Homework help and Academic Upgrading for children who are hearing impaired (using American Standard Sign Language)
