Non-Dominant Hand Training
New Opportunities Learning Centre provides Non-Dominant Hand Training for clients who have lost use of the dominant hand. The purpose of our training is to ensure that the client is able to use the non-dominant hand to perform all activities of daily living . Students also learn handwriting, fine motor skills and one-handed keyboarding. To achieve results, we use a variety of standard exercises to strengthen small and large muscle groups. We work on developing endurance, dexterity, and co-ordination. In addition to the physical aspect of the training, we provide students with various assistive technologies such as a one-handed Keyboard and Voice Assisted software.
Our program is under the care and supervision of a registered occupational therapist at no extra cost to the client. It is also vital that RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury) does not become an issue for the newly trained hand.
This program is a stand-alone program but can be customized to be integrated with any of our programs
Please call our centre for further information
