English As a Second Language
We provide top quality language and culture training in an intimate,
academic and enjoyable environment. Our classes are small which allow for individualized attention, something that is not easily attainable in
large volume schools. Our programs are designed to meet each student's
needs, interests and learning styles.
New Opportunities Learning Centre offers comprehensive English as a Second Language (ESL) training designed to bring all learners to a minimum of a Canadian Language Benchmark Stage II, Level 8 competency. The average of progress is approximately 1 level every 6 weeks, although rate of progress can vary depending on individual abilities.
Students work in group and peer-to-peer learning environments as well as individually with teachers.
The program focuses on the following areas:
Students are taught the “living” language; idioms, common vernacular, every-day usage and cultural learning play a key role in our ESL/English program for effective communication within the Canadian framework.
Canadian Language Benchmarks are used to test student progress.
