BASIC LITERACY

New Opportunities Learning Centre offers Literacy training in READING AND WRITING for students who do not have the skills necessary to compete in the increasingly demanding job market.  Our program uses an integrated approach with real-world/workplace relevance as the core of our instruction.  Basic subjects include:

• Sight Words

• Phonics

• Reading comprehension

• Literacy coping skills

• Spelling

• Basic practical grammar

• Writing

Depending on pre-determined educational goals, students will work towards READING and WRITING competency at the Grade 10 or GED test (Grade 12) levels.
